Recent Skincare Favourites

There's been major weather changes in the air in Ireland as of late. Shockingly we're actually enjoying what my mother has dubbed a 'heatwave' which basically means the sun has been out more than two days in a row. In an attempt to prep my face to 'go bare', I decided to change up a few skincare bits as I had been experiencing random breakouts.

The first thing I picked up was this Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Cleanser. After reading a lot about pollution caused by products containing micro-beads, I decided to opt for something which was a chemical exfoliant rather than buying my usual, more physically abrasive scrubs. The cleanser contains 2% Glycolic acid which, according to claims, should gently exfoliate, retexturise and brighten the skin. It's a liquid/gel formula which suds up when you apply it to a wet face & it also has a light grape scent which I really enjoy!

I would have to say that it lives up to it's claims, my skin has been noticeably smoother and less tempermental and I don't find it to be drying at all. The only thing I would point out is that it causes slight redness and skin peeling on my skin, so I only use 2-4 days per week rather than every day. I also wouldn't advise using this if your face has gotten a bit too much sun that day or if it's usually quite dry!
If you're interested in glycolic acid and how it works, there's a snappy article here!

Amongst the other things I use in my skincare routine, I have grown to love my newest purchase - the L'oréal Skin Perfection Velvety Soft Toner. It's a great toner, which calms redness and cools the skin as well as imparting some much-needed moisture back into the face leaving the skin looking plumped up and healthy.

I bought both these things whilst on a shopping trip to Sainsburys, of all places!
You can buy them (both on sale!) at Boots here:
